about

My name is Stacy, and I’m a Research Fellow at Anthropic PBC. I work on technical AI safety and interpretability.

In a past life, I conducted my PhD research in evolutionary & computational biology at the Sudmant Lab at UC Berkeley. There, I worked on everything from the genomics of viral immunity to leveraging pangenomic graphs for discovering rare mutations. Some projects:

  • Small molecule drug discovery for diseases of protein misfolding and dysfunction

  • Investigative sourcing and benchmarking of clandestinely imported COVID-19 rapid antigen tests

  • Sequencing the microbiome of inflammatory skin diseases

  • Studying aging and immunity in Myotis bats

  • Reverse engineering uniquely barcoded magnetic beads for linked-read DNA sequencing

  • My doctoral research: developing methods to study the mutation and evolution of human genomes in aging.

In my spare time, I like tinkering with small buildables, reading, taking photos of 木洩れ日 (komorebi, the sunlight filtering through trees), walking aimlessly, and charging my phone. I occasionally discuss things I like and work on @voidshapes. DMs there are the fastest way to reach me, but if you prefer email:
